Day 3 at Goafest 2022: Enthralling sessions and insightful conversations

The beginning of the last day at Goafest 2022 started off on a high note with the Knowledge seminar by Times Network. The seminar witnessed Mithali Raj, Indian Women’s Cricket Captain in conversation with Sharlene Lobo, Anchor Mirror Now. Aptly titled ‘The Relentless Courage of Breaking Boundaries’, the seminar began with Sharlene asking Mithali Raj about her thoughts and feelings when she witnesses girls playing cricket in the present scenario. Mithali Raj’s pioneering career serves as an inspiration to many young girls who dream of leading a successful career in the sport. Discussing the rising profile of women’s cricket in the country, Mithali is ecstatic about the improvements that this space has witnessed since 2005, from training to amenities and even the sports psychologists.

Furthermore, Mithali discussed the many challenges she faced while choosing cricket as a career but also shed light on how she received tremendous support from her school and her family. She shared anecdotes from her school days and how her parents coaxed her to choose World Cup selections right before her 12th board examinations, in the year 2000.

Her success can be credited to her strong and sturdy mindset, as she emphasized the importance of self-control over the mental and emotional aspects of one’s being.

Next up, we had a fireside chat centered upon ‘Diversity, Equality & Inclusion’ with Suhela Khan, Country Program Manager, We Empower Asia, UN Women; Rohit Ohri, Chairman & CEO, FCB Ulka; Rathi Gangappa, CEO, Starcom India and Dheeraj Sinha, CEO & Chief Strategy Officer – South Asia, Leo Burnett.

The need to make industries gender-responsive and inculcate values and principles for women’s empowerment was stressed by Suhela. In line with the same thought, Rathi discussed how organizations should promote inclusivity and take measures to enable women. Furthermore,

Dheeraj also emphasized how even small changes in the environment of an organization can be undertaken in order to promote a culture of comfort.

Another highlight of Day 3 was the Knowledge Seminar by Spotify that included an Influencer session with Ranveer Allahbadia, Niharika NM, Raj Shamani, Madan Gowri and was moderated by Viraj Sheth, Co-Founder & CEO of Monk Entertainment.

The seminar paved the way for an enlightening conversation on the topic ‘Celebrating Superpower Within – The Responsible Influencer’. The discussion highlighted how content creation has boomed over the past few years as the influencers shared the early years of their journey in this space, and their former careers before they took on content creation as a full-time job.
In addition to the advantages of being a content creator, the speakers also talked about the challenges that they face, especially during collaborations with brands. Viraj took the discussion forward by asking questions on the relativity and subjectivity of being an influencer in the current scenario and also discussed the future of the ecosystem.

The end of the session was marked by a discussion on the importance of creative freedom in a content creator’s life.
